All my Finale Scripts involving the Text Tool stopped working after upgrading to 26.3, witch is a huge setback for me since they help me save a ton of time. They seemingly run, but are not producing any results, some scripts just flat out stoppes.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Also, does anyone know how to roll back to 26.2?

Thank you!

As you're on Mac, just restore the old app from Time Machine.

I don't have it set up.I have finale version 26.2 on another Mac, but I don't have the installer. Is there any way I can transfer this from my other Mac?

Yes, just delete 26.3 and copy the old app over from the other Mac.

Oh, and if you haven't got any backup: sort that out immediately.

...that being said. I didn't dare delete my 26.3 copy, I just renamed it. I am afraid to lose my plugins, scripts and so on. Will I lose those if I delete 26.3?

No the plug-ins are in a completely different location, in your /Library/Application Support/Make Music/Finale26...

I threw Finale 26.3 away, copied Finale 26.2 from my other computer. Still didn't work...

Then either some other file needs to be restored, or the problem is not related to the installation of 26.3.

As said, the installer also updates files in

Code: Select all

/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale 26
, but I can't see anything there that might stop your own scripts from working.

It's worth doing a restart, just to check?

When you say "did not work", do you mean your scripts don't work, or the app itself didn't launch, or what? Was there an error message? If so, what was it?

Just curious: when you reported the FinaleScript problem to Support, did you ask them to make the 26.2 installation file available to you? If v26.3 is broken, it seems reasonable that they would give you that option. Worth a try.

I am sorry. Finale 26.2 didn’t work. The error message was only “Could not open Finale”, as I recall.

Yes, Zulli. I asked them for help to roll back to 26.2.

Did they refuse the request?

I just sent the support ticket some hours ago. I didn’t get a reply yet. Since Covid they can take a week, maybe more, to reply. I will post their answer here when I get one.

Can you tell if the FinaleScript plug-in itself was updated with this release (look at file dates, maybe, or do a file compare)? Probably not, but worth a check, in which case you could reinstall 26.3 and then use the old version of the plug-in.

I'm quite worried about the competence of the company...

I'm staying on v26.2 until I see that broken things are fixed. So far, it only seems to be Mac that is having issues. However, one never knows. I am curious to confirm that the playback Home button now works properly. But that can wait. I saved the v26.2 install file, so if there is an unusable situation with v26.3, I can easily reinstall v26.2.

That was a good idea – I checked, and FinaleScript has been updated! However, replacing the new FinaleScript plugin with the old one makes Finale unable to launch.

Update: I was able to launch with the old plugin, but the problem with scripts involving Text Tool persists...

Old FinaleScript is version number 26.2.0.1
New FinaleScript is version number 26.3.0.1
