For a second verse in a song, I tried to use the "chorus" setting, rather than "verse." (Keeping with the Barbershop notation manual, verses 1-4 are already in use.) I was using type into score, when I realized that hyphens and word extensions weren't there. I couldn't find anything in Lyrics preferences to suggest this might be a setting.

I went back to using verse 6, instead, and it was fine.

Could someone please try this, and see if they get the same result? If so, I'll report it as a bug. If not, we'll chalk it up to PEBCAK.

Mike,

I just made a little file and tested entering lyrics on Chorus 1 and hyphens were working okay. As you are aware, often when using Type Into Score the hyphens don't pop up until you get to the next measure, but I doubt that's what you were dealing with.

I did not fill 4 verses and then add Chorus 1 so this is not a complete test of your situation. I actually never use Chorus or Section; I just do what you did and put the chorus at verse 6 or whatever.

Zuill,

Yes, I did that little test in 26.3.

Bill Stevens,

Indeed your Forum Signature (shown at the bottom of your posts) says v26.3, but your Forum Profile (shown to the right of your posts) still says v26.2.

If you can find the time to do it, you should update your Profile.

I'm still on 26.2. I'm waiting to see if any issues have come up that would affect my work.

This is really a minor issue. It's the first time I've tried using anything except "verse" and I can certainly continue as I have.

Not worth hassling over!

Well, I suppose you rebooted and regenerated preferences, as those are the first things usually suggested. Also, is the issue in all files or just the one? I suppose someone else could try your file to see if we get the same behavior. It can be sent privately if needed.

The manual says,
There’s no technical distinction between these three types [Verse, Chorus, and Section]—the lyrics you enter as a Verse can be used in the chorus of your song, and vice versa. They’re only there to help you keep track of your lyrics, and to make it easy to change the font or style for a large chunk of lyrics at once

I created a simple file to test showing 4 verses and 1 chorus, as per Mike's description. Both the Verses and the Chorus show hyphens and word extensions. If Mike doesn't see the hyphens and extensions in the Chorus, then there is something going on that not everyone is experiencing. Maybe it is a Mac only issue.
