Finale v.25 and Mac OS Catalina

I would like to know if Finale version 25 for Mac works ok with Mac OS Catalina. Any help? I'm using it with Mac OS El Capitan, but I would like to upgrade my Mac to Catalina. Any help?

Nope..I had to upgrade to a new computer (imac) and it came with Catalina. Every program (music ) has worked like a charm (except the free audio editor Audacity that is already working to fix the issue) until I had to reinstall Finale 25..oh boy..you don't want to see that. Horrible, lagging, super slow, struggling to the point of being unusable.
I am realizing now, after reading a post regarding Catalina that apparently (in my experience its a no doubt!) it does not work with V25. . So these guys at Make Music are in the business of by asking $150 for compatibility (" an upgrade") OR it won't work with Catalina. Bravo! well done makemusic, I'll give you an idea why not change your company name to "make more money of pro musicians during the pandemic"

Not to flame the Win vs Mac debate, this is one advantage we who use Windows enjoy: very old versions of Finale can run on the most recent version of Windows. Another advantage, of course, is the cost.

Sorry to insert this here, but sometimes it helps those who are needing to run older versions of Finale to know there is another choice.

I was at the Macworld conference in Boston where Finale debuted (1988?) and I remember chatting with the developer there. Windows at that time was version 1.0 or 2.0 and was very crude compared to the Mac. PCs also had 16-bit processors, which had limited memory, compared to the Mac's 32-bit processor. I'm guessing Finale wasn't practical until the 32-bit 80386 processor and Windows 3.1.

Sounds about right though I don’t think I actually bought till the San Francisco MacWorld in 1989.

My brother lived in Cambridge at the time so I routed my flight home from Europe to attend the show and visit with him. Most memorable thing was the flight home when I was upgraded to 1st Class and found myself seated next to Skunk Baxter.

My wife's 2018 iMac experienced incredibly slow performance after upgrading to Catalina (my 2016 iMac work machine is still running Mojave). When I took her machine to an Apple authorized service tech he told me that Catalina really didn't like mechanical drives (hers is a Fusion, part SSD, part mechanical). Upgraded the memory to 16gb and added a 500 gb SSD. Problem solved. Runs almost as fast as my work machine.

My reason for upgrading is not Finale but that the Garritan libraries I purchased individually don't seem to like Catalina either.
