Question on symbol
Does anyone know what the symbol over the grace note means?

Re: Question on symbol
Just a guess. Since it appears to be a jazz arrangement, it could be the arranger's way of indicating a grace note that is to be played simultaneously with the chord and then released quickly.

Re: Question on symbol
I could be wrong, but I seem to recall that I have seen the symbol in old music notation.
My guess is that the symbol originally was used “for something completely different” - accidental? - time signature? - Coda symbol?
Anyway, the symbol is available in the Fughetta font, in character slot #33.

Re: Question on symbol
I've asked on Facebook. Someone said a double sharp, but that doesn't make sense with the picture above. Someone else said an asterisk--is there a footnote at the bottom of the page? Or scholarly notes accompanying the editon?

Re: Question on symbol
Were it a kind of asterisk, which is a good guess, one would think the OP would have seen the footnote at the bottom of the page. So perhaps there is an explanatory note that is being missed or was not supplied to the OP.

Re: Question on symbol
I've seen this used as a double sharp before but I don't remember where. If it makes no musical sense....
Re: Question on symbol
I'll (double naturally) double down on the double sharp.

Re: Question on symbol
It's in the wrong place to be a Double Sharp.

Re: Question on symbol
Now, the OP needs to put us out of our misery and tell us if there is a footnote or other explanatory note to which the asterisk refers. I would love to know if my original guess was correct: the grace note should be played simultaneously with the chord and then released quickly.
