Hi all,
Sorry if this is a bit off-topic (again):

When a crescendo leads to a dynamic at the first note of the next system, should the hairpin extend to the system margin or only to underneath its last note?

I researched it everywhere I could, but didn't really find a rule of thumb.

Cheerio,
HP.

The second example seems to indicate what you want. The first example implies the crescendo stops at the note where the hairpin ends, which is not what you want.

Elaine Gould addresses this, and it's as Zuill says.
