Does anyone else get these overweight hyphens in cues?

Yes. It appears that the hyphens do not reduce in size, even when the lyrics do. It happens regardless of the layer. Definitely a bug. They are positioned too high, as well.

BTW, I have started using an expression of a hyphen, rather than the hard hyphen, to keep the size consistent. (Not in this illustration, though.)

I think if you want to use the lyrics tool, using a fixed size might solve this issue. It did in a test file I created. You'd need to create a separate lyric for these notes, and not use the lyrics from thee actual verse that you were using in the vocal part. Just choose an unused Verse, Chorus or Section.

Thanks both. I'll give these methods a trial tomorrow (it's late here now).

I solved this with fixed size as suggested by Zuill, except that as I have a separated file for the linked part I just changed the existing Lyrics Window to an appropriately small fixed size.
