Never have this problem w/Finale on my desktop, but when I installed it on my Dell Inspiron laptop, Finale locks up the sound so you can't get sound to work on other programs (online, YouTube, Zoom.....) If I shut off Finale, then it works again. But sometimes I want to Zoom with people and share the Finale screen, so now I want to stop the lazy work-around and get it right. How do I adjust settings, etc, so that I don't have this issue?

I use Direct Sound instead of ASIO. I can use other programs simultaneously with Finale. I know Motet has a new ASIO fix that also seems to work for him. Maybe he'll chime in here.

It's apparently an aspect of ASIO rather than a Finale problem per se. Either switch to Direct Sound or other driver or use the solution I posted about very recently:

In my case, Direct Sound had some latency, but every system's different. I'd try that first.

Seem to have posted this in the wrong section (playback)?
Here again .
Hi,
I've downloaded FlexASIO ad it is installed in C:\Program Files\FlexASIO. I don't see it in Finale's Audio Setup - ASIO is greyed out and the only audio driver listed is Direct Sound (which I've always sed without any problems, but I use ASIO4ALL in Cubase). Where should FlexAUDIO be so that Finale sees it?
Thanks.

Actually, I have never seen the ASIO driver in Finale (even though I use it elsewhere). Any ideas why not?

Afraid not. I guess you could try recreating finmidi.ini. Quit Finale, then look in
C:\Users\(your login)\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5
Rename FINMIDI.INI to something else and relaunch Finale. If ASIO appears, then check all your other settings. If not, you can put the old one back.

I don't know what happened with the post, but in case anyone missed it, the solution suggested worked perfectly. I downloaded Flex ASIO and now I am set. Thanks!
