Hi all,
5/4, default whole bar rest: I need to add a fermata to this rest. What is the best approach to doing that?

Thanks,
HP.

Enter a real whole rest and then you can attach a fermata with the Articulation Tool.

Thanks, Zuill! I should have known that :-)

Something else that I wanted to ask:

I have a bar with layer 1 and layer 2, and at the end of the bar, both layers share a single minim rest. How do I force Finale to give me a minim rest for each layer? When I add both minim rests, Finale automatically makes it a single rest.

Thanks,
HP.

In Simple, type S to split or combine rests.

Typing S also seems to work in Speedy.

If you want this behavior through the entire piece, Document Options > Layers > Uncheck Consolidate Rests Across Layers.
