When I copy notes from a treble clef guitar part and paste them into a guitar tab part, the tab is often totally inaccurate with no relation to the treble clef notes. Not an octave above/below, and sometimes fret numbers will go up as the melody goes down. Is there a way to fix this?

Those tab notes are off by an octave. It doesn't make sense until you spot the nearly invisible minus sign, for instance before the 2. So it thinks that note is 2 frets below the open E, an octave too low.

Two things to examine:

1) Preferences - Edit
Is the option {Respect Instrument Ranges when Copying or Changing Instruments} selected or de-selected?
(It should be de-selected, to avoid your issue)

2) Check that both the Treble Clef staff and the TAB staff are set up correctly (= playing back in the correct octave level).

My first guess would be that 1) is the culprit.

Zuill, you should take the wreath off your door until after Thanksgiving.

Wreath off the door? I just took the skeleton off the door and was about to put up a turkey on the door.

Regarding the wrong fret numbers, I tested Peter's thought on the setting that respects instrument ranges, and that seems to be the issue here. Just uncheck that option and you're in business. If you need it on for other work, do so, and than transpose the TAB up an octave after pasting.
