I have just installed a higher OS on my computer, and I tried to open
a Finale file. Message came up: "neither the preferred soundfont nor the default
could be found. Please reinstall soundfont components." I have Finale 2011.
Can you tell me where to download the fonts from Finale? Thanks.

What OS did you install?
You will probably need to download F2011 from your Finale account and try to reinstall it. I doubt that the soundfonts are available by themselves. Of course, if you upgraded to a current Mac OS, you won’t be able to install it, at all.

I upgraded to OS 10.11.6. How do I download from my Finale account?

Thanks for your replies. I am unable to follow through on your suggestions
for the time being because my computer has become largely inoperable.
Most probably I'll be buying the latest version apple computer soon. If you can tell
me which version of Finale would be best suited to it I would be appreciative,
Thanks. Also, is it true that I won't be able to get live help (via telephone) from
Finale with the installation?

If you get a new Mac, it will come with either Catalina or Big Sur. As such, Finale 26.3 is your only option.
It’s true. You can no longer get live help from Finale.

Fine. Since I will no longer get live help from Finale, will you be able to assist me
with setting up (configuring) a very simple MIDI/Audio setup once I have the new Finale disc?
All I will need is an acoustic piano sound coming out of the computer.
That's what I have used most of the time. I have a keyboard controller (Yamaha KX88)
hooked up to my computer. It has worked just fine until my current computer debacle. Many thanks.

I can try, but I’ll be the first to admit that, like Sgt. Schultz, I know nothing. I only use MIDI for playback. But there are enough people on this forum (most of them, actually) that know more than me, and will probably jump in.
I would say, go for it. You’ll be quite happy, once you adjust to some of the new features.

Is there a big learning curve? As I mentioned, I use Finale for just composing rather simple-looking piano pieces.
Will the menus and tools look totally different? I am frankly afraid of it if I have to totally relearn the whole
thing. I have used Finale 2011 for about 20 years. Thanks.
