Any suggestions for locking mid-measure clefs in place? I am using cross-staff into measures that already contain notes and rests. The existing notation in the measure will usually keep the clef from moving. But not today. Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks.

Since I have not had that problem, I guess I might need to see a sample file with a problem, to be able to troubleshoot.

Would you suggest a measure where this is happening?

Zuill,

There are 17 mid-measure clefs used here. I had to adjust quite a few of them. Pretty sure that #24 and 29 were suspect.

I don't see a mid-measure clef in either of those measures. Where should the clefs be (which beat)?

In measure 24 after the first beat. In measure 29, immediaty after the first 16th note of the second beat.

I was able to add the clef in 24. In 29, where does the Treble clef end?

It seems you were supposed to have the Treble in effect already in 29, and then change back to Bass. Does the attached revision of your file show what you want in those 2 bars?

No. With the cross-staff eliminated it does not work. Since all the clef movement occurs in measures where cross-staff is employed I should probably just eliminate using the cross-staff tools and just type what I want directly into those measures where a clef change happens. I suppose that may solve my problem. I should have thought of that, but you shook my brain up a bit and there it is! I will get back to you if that does not work.

Thank you! I appreciate the help.

I don't see cross staff notes in either of those measures. Are you sure you sent the correct file?

I looked at an original pdf from IMSLP. I don't see any cross staff notes there in 24, but in 29, there is possibly 1. I moved your layer 2 beat one note down with the Cross Staff Tool. I revised the file again and posted it here. The clef still stays put.

I'm going to put the treble clef back into your revised score2 in #29, save the change, and open and close the file a few times. Let's see what happens.
