I am posting this as a follow-up to prior postings. After installing fonts, the
notes are now appearing correctly, not garbled. Still, the problem of no sound
remains. I attach a screenshot. “Finale is expecting the following devices, but they
are not found in your current Audio Midi Setup configuration. Check your configuration
in Finale MIDI setup and in Audio Midi setup.” I have looked at the MIDI/Audio setup pages,
for me very complicated and I simply can't navigate it. Please advise how to fix. Thanks.

Let's start with this: is the keyboard for input or playback?

Here's a screen shot of the MIDI Setup Window in Advanced view.

P.S.: This is the Windows version. I suppose the Mac look is quite different, and I think that I, as a Windows user, shouldn't offer advice on how to fix this for a Mac. Hopefully a Mac user will chime in.

It's for input to create a score. Basic piano sound. Playback with
same sound.

Is your window really greyed out ? That would not be normal.
Midi/Audio menu : select "Play Finale through Midi" in your case.
Is there a midi interface ? On ? Check the cables in/out.
Your keyboard should appear in the Input Device column. Make sure it is on.
Then in the right column (Output Device), you could select the keyboard with Midi System selected on the top right of the window if young want to use the keyboard sounds
or select there SmartMusicSoftsynth if you would rather use those sounds.
Select midi channels and sounds in the Score Manager.

It's a screenshot and maybe that's why its greyed out. I don't know. Anyway, I followed
your chart. Is there anything missing on my screenshot? See below.
I get no sound and it crashes frequently. Thanks.

It looks like the Yamaha is in the input column, but the fact that it is in italics means that it is not active. Is it on ?
Restart the computer.

A midi interface ? On ?
Your profile mentions Finale 2011, but not your MacOs (please add it to your profile, because it could matter). It could be a problem of compatibility.
From the MakeMusic site :

Finale 2011 for Macintosh®
Make sure that you have the Finale 2011c update in place.
G4 or higher recommended. OS 10.5-10.9 (Mac-Intel or Power PC)

My system has worked flawlessly (10.6) until I upgraded last week (10.11).
The keyboard has been plugged directly into the back of computer.
No interface other than that.

There you go. Seems pretty obvious. MM says OS 10.5 to 10.9.

Apple doesn't seem to put any effort into making things backwardly compatible, so you may be out of luck.
