Custom notehead help
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Hi all,
Does anyone know what font set I can find the last notehead in this picture in?
I assume that once I identify it, I can use the Special Tools/Note Shape Tool to right-click on the measure and change the notehead...but I am having trouble finding the actual notehead itself in any of my notation-related fonts.

It is in the November font. There it is called "Round white notehead with dot". November is a great font, but it isn't free.

Hmmm...thanks Bill. It must be in another font set as well, as I do NOT envision that the person who wrote the above ever paid for a font, hah hah! I guess worst comes to worst I'll look into purchasing it.Bill Stevens wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:04 pmIt is in the November font. There it is called "Round white notehead with dot". Edit: Just heard back from the guy, and he certainly never paid for a font...he's using Sibelius, so it must be a font they use, but I cannot find it in Opus or Opus Percussion, strangely enough.

Thanks, Zuill. I don't see it in that font, but...doesn't matter. Went ahead and purchased November 2...I don't mind paying for it now that I've read up on it, and seeing how many different glyphs it contains. That seems like it was a LOT of work for Piéchaud, so...don't mind supporting it...and the font does look a little "smoother" than the default fonts.
Appreciate the help, Bill and Zuill (almost sounds like you two should have an "Excellent Adventure" after your names).

That glyph is just a circle with a dot in it - easily created in the Shape Designer.
The (outer) circle should have a radius of 3 Points.
To make the circle opaque, Fill With White.
The (inner) dot can be created as a small circle, Filled With Black.
You can attach the shape as a shape articulation or as a shape expression.
See the attached Finale document where I have attached the {Circle with dot} as a shape articulation.
To get rid of the “real” notehead I moved the real notehead waaay down below the bottom of the page

It also seems to be in Fravura-extra which asks for a ‘donation of 0.1€ or more’.

Weird...I'm not seeing it in my options when I go to change the notehead via Tools. Oh well, I did locate the notehead I was looking for in November 2, so I am all set.

I redid it with Bold and it seems to look a bit better. I did the change (except the Bold part) with the JW Change plugin.

Here is a comparison of some options.
In the PDF file you can zoom in, to see details.
The file shows
- Shape articulation (made opaque so that it breaks the staff-line)
- November2
- NovemberExtra
- Opus Special Extra
- Fravura-Extra

I don't know the purpose of that notehead (I assume it is a drum thing) but I like the look of the one Peter did where the staff line doesn't go through the middle of the notehead.
