on a mac 10.13.6 high sierra finale 26.2.2.493

I'm just getting back into notation following a couple of years off...

I have a score from a while back and I'd like to hear individual chords. I thought there was a set of keys being held down then move the pointer over the note and that chord stack would play...another would allow a single note to be played..

I've searched online...the only thing I found was ctrl + space bar....but it's not working...

any help would be appreciated...
