A bit OT, but it may interest some of you.

I’ve used glyphs from Bravura and Academico to create MusGlyphs. It’s a font that allows you to type musical symbols directly into a word processor and combine them with text using intuitive key commands.

You can download it for free here: https://github.com/dankreider/musglyphs

I’d appreciate feedback on anything you think should be improved or added.

If you want to promote this, you might consider showing examples. I don't see such even in your character map.

I am not a laywer, but also beware that Bravura and Academico are likely copyrighted (as are the Finale fonts), so in theory you could run into legal trouble.

1. Fair enough. Trust me, it works! I’ll try to include some examples in the PDF.
2. It’s published under SIL OFL, which is the same license used for Bravura and Academico. All above-board. It’s free to download and modify.

Very cool. The ligatures make it powerful and intuitive.

Just a quick update to say that MusGlyphs 2.0 is now available, and includes comprehensive support for metric modulations:

It should work nicely in Finale, just type it in.

Yeah, the project seems to have disappeared from GitHub.

Sorry, yes that’s correct. We thought it would be less confusing to keep it in one place. Still free to download.

It's very cool. A lot of it even works in Finale (but not all).

Very nice! I went ahead and purchased it at the "suggested" price and I encourage others to do the same.

Some of it doesn't work in Finale? What specifically doesn't work?

No, I'm using 2014.5. Perhaps the newer versions fixed it.

Yes, 2.0. The multi-measure rests didn't work in MS Word either until I turned on kerning and ligatures in MS Word. Finale being Finale, my guess is that it's just behind the times.

Yes, you absolutely need kerning and ligatures in Word for nearly everything in MusGlyphs.

You need to add underscores on either side of those numbers. ___1___2___3___ etc.

I think I'm typing the right thing. As I say, doesn't seem to work in Finale.

Here's { _ _ 4 _ _ } and { _ _ 4 _ } (spaces added for clarity).

UGH. You're right. I have no idea why that's not working. It works fine in Dorico, Sibelius, Word, etc... I'll look into it.

I’m not trying to pass the blame off, but I really think this is a bug in the text tool. That large extra space is simply unexplainable, as it simply shouldn’t exist between those glyphs.

Of course that fixes nothing for the user that wants it, but… I am discovering that creating fonts that use OT features can be risky business, since many applications use OT inconsistently or not at all. Sorry.

I just tried motet's examples above and they rendered correctly in F26.3.1 on Mac.
