Hello!

I am digitising an old score where the composer has used an E-flat clarinet, which transposes down m3 (add 3 sharps). There is a section of the score which is in A major (3 sharps). Now, in the E-flat clarinet this will be in F-sharp (3+3=6 sharps). That's all fine. But I want the clarinet to be written with flats, G-flat (6 flats) instead of F-sharp (6 sharps).

I have tried the "Independent Elements - Key signature", which works good. The problem is that I just cannot get 6 flats. 5 is the maximum. Any hint on why this is and how I can solve it would be highly appreciated.

I use Finale 26 on a MacBook Pro, OS 10.14

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

The “standard solution” for this problem is not "Independent Elements - Key signature, but rather a (staff style with a) custom staff transposition (= D# transposition instead of Eb transposition).
Use this custom transposition, only on the section with 3 sharps:

Unfortunately I am not able to reproduce that problem.
I get 6 flats without any difficulties.

We may need to know your exact steps, to reproduce the problem.
If you attach a (small) Finale document (with the problem) here, then I am confident that someone can find the culprit.
