I have a bass note in my score which is a dotted half note at the beginning of the measure. I want this one to appear as such, but then I want it to be connected with the rest of the notes in that line which consists of eighths. Thus simplifying the reading, instead of seeing them as separate layers. That is I want so see a dotted half note with an eighth note stem at the beginning, followed by 5 eighths connected to that first one.

I used Utilities > Change > Notehead to change the filled notehead of the eighth note to a hollow notehead.

How did you manage to select that first note only? According to the manual one is supposed to select the whole region, in this case the whole measure. But then all notes become hollow.

I just dragged around the region with that note. Motet's way works, too. Or JW Change. Lots of ways to do things!

Finally I made it! The trick is to know exactly were to put the cursor when making the selection. Otherwise there's no way to select just one beat.

Thanks you both for your help!
