Curious thing about adobe pdf and using personal fonts

Hello,
I noticed that if i use adobe pdf printer and print the document containing for example toccata font or some personal created fonts I have to deactivate the "rely on system fonts do not use document fonts" to have a correctly printed document.
i was wondering if anyone of you experimented this issue or not.
