I could be wrong (I do not know much about Finale 2014.5 in Windows), but I suspect that you are looking in the wrong Plug-ins folder.
The folder you are looking in (C:ProgramFiles (x86) > …), merely serves as a backup copy.
Instead, look in the Application Data folder.
My guess is that you will find another Plug-ins folder there.

Depends on the installation--mine are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Finale 2014.5) (with a space between Program and Files); no other copy.
Look at Edit/Preferences/Folders and see what Plug-ins points to.

My plug-ins, like Motet's, are located only in C:\Program Files (x86)\Finale 2014.5 (forgot to include the space!) I have definitely removed the culprit plug-in from the folder, but it still appears in the menu. It's a mystery!!

It doesn't do anything, Motet. In fact that's why I wanted to remove it. I originally placed it directly in the plug-in folder instead of in a subfolder, and it wasn't working.
After writing yesterday, I discovered an XML file on my PC, I copied it and put the copy on my desktop then removed the original (together with other files) to try and solve the problem. The problem is that I now can't remember where the original was.
Anyway, the content of the file is the following, which I suspect is directly related to the irremovable plug-in. Does it mean anything to you?

Thanks motet. Had to experiment with different folders, but eventually found the right one: C:Program Files (x86) >Finale 14.5>Plug-ins>jwlua-beta-v0_54. The rogue plug-in has now disappeared from the plug-ins menu, and is only accessed through jwlua.beta.
