I'm just notifying other users of a workaround for a rather grievous bug in Finale's "Rebar Music" function.
I was trying to double the note durations in a passage of music; I selected the passage and Finale made complete mincemeat of my music. The key signature change was not moved, some sections ended up in the wrong bar completely, etc etc.
In case anyone else is having this problem here is the workaround for doubling the note values in a section of music in 4/4:
1. select each bar of the full score individually and change it to 2/4 individually with "Rebar Music" selected.
2. Select the whole section you want to change and change it to 4/4 with "Rebar Music" not selected. The note values end up scrunched up in at the beginning of each bar.
3. Apply "Utilities/Change/Note Durations" and select 200%.

This issue is well known.
Another solution (doubling the note values in a section of music in 4/4):
1. Select all the measures.
2. Plug-ins menu > Note, Beam, and Rest Editing > Change to Real Whole Rests.
3. Apply "Utilities/Change/Note Durations" and select 200%, with Rebar Music selected.
4. Plug-ins menu > Note, Beam, and Rest Editing > Change to Default Whole Rests.
