I had two groups comprising the same set of staves and wanted to get rid of one of them. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete with Group and Bracket/Edit. The only way I found was to select the group by clicking with the mouse, then picking Delete from the menu.

Is this the only way? I found it cumbersome since the groups were superimposed; I ended up changing the ending staff for the one I wanted to delete, and then its handle stood out.

The simplest way I have found to do this is to increase the distance of the bracket of the group you want to delete. You can then easily see it, select it and delete it with the delete key (or right-click on the bracket and choose Delete Group). Of course there should really be a Delete option in the Group Attributes menu.

I agree. I always found frustrating that in the Group Attributes, there is no Delete button. This window is the logical place where deleting unnecessary groups should be possible. I sent that remark to MakeMusic a few years ago, but to no avail.
Selecting the right handles in the score is not always easy, as motet points out.

Can you delete a Staff from Staff Attributes? What I am suggesting is that Staves and Groups can't be deleted from the Attributes window. I'm guessing your groups are unnamed. If they are named, move one of the names and then delete the one with the name you don't need. If unnamed, add a name and then select the name handle and delete the group.

no, you can't (unfortunately, it would certainly be the most logical and easiest way to do it there)
as well as moving the bracket so you can see better which group you are dealing with, I often also give the group I want to delete some easily recognizable name (like xxxxxx) which you can then immediately see and delete without confusing it with other groups

I guess Group attributes and Staff attributes are analogous.

I can delete a group by moving it or naming it; just wondered if there were an easier way.

AFAIK, there are more ways to delete a staff than to delete a group. Unfortunately...
