After 25 years of Finale on a Mac computer with various versions of Finale, I have finally gone over to a PC laptop with Windows 10. The change is not as easy as it sounds for an old bloke like me. I also got the latest (I hope) version of Finale. So two questions (sorry).
1) Where can I find what version of Finale I am using.
2) When I enter notes in Speedy, layer two (which I "elected" to show in red) shows in black on entry, until I go to the next bar when it reverts to the correct colour red.
Any ideas?
Thanks

1) Help Menu/About Finale
2) That's the way it works. When you're in a bar with other layers, they appear in gray. The layer you're working in appears in black. After leaving the frame, then the assigned layer colors will show. When using Simple Entry, the colors show as you go. The note you've selected appears in fuchsia (or something close to that). After going to the next note, then it appears in the proper color.

When did this change? Or is it a PC/Windows thing?

On a Mac the layers retain their colours in the Speedy frame. The one you're working on is bold, any others are fainter but still in their assigned colours.
