How to write this with Finale? It's an exemple of violin Bariolage technique (Bach)

It can be done with two layers and the "extend secondary beams over rests" option set. You have to move the rests off the page rather than hiding them, otherwise the beams will be broken. There's a plugin that will move the rests en masse.

I tried this using all the methods described in previous posts: two layers, set doc options to allow rests to float, and extend beams and secondary beams over rests, and move the rests off the page, with both the MM plugin, and JW Change. But I can't make it happen. Where did I go wrong? This is in F26.

Try it with just secondary beams extended over rests (I fixed my post above).

This question (= how to create alternating stems) comes up from time to time.

Here is a tutorial I created four years ago - including some examples of variations on the layout.
