Can I take a musx file from Finale and export it in midi and will the layout and format be retained when opened on the others side. Thanks Michael

I don’t think so. But go ahead and try it. Also try doing it as XML, and see which one works better.

Mike -- the OP is using PrintMusic. I don't know if that supports XML but I figured you would.

Also from Lebovitztap1 it would be helpful to know what is going to be trying to open the file on the other end.

If it's just notes you're concerned with, MIDI might work.
