I've been doing mandolin music and tablature for a long time and never seen this before.
I am transcribing a solo that has a G note at the 15th fret of the E string. I am not a pianist, but on my spinet piano, the note I'm needing is one note below A7 I think. Anyway the tab is showing it an octave lower. I tried looking and changinging the instrument range, but nothing worked to show the correct fret i that TAB, just one octave down.
Anybody seen this and any suggestions?
Thanks!

Without seeing your example, I would suggest using the selection tool and select that tab note and press 9 to send it up an octave.

To make sure I understand, is it showing as 3 on the E string in the TAB?

Yes, that was the problem.
