Default Audio Output
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I'm wondering if there's a way to change the default audio output setting in Finale. Every time I open up Finale, the audio output is set to ZoomAudioDevice which is totally useless.
Similarly, why doesn't Finale recognize and automatically switch the output to my headphones whenever I plug in? Every other program on my computer recognizes this, but not my music making program? It makes no sense. This is a constant frustration and just seems like bad programming.

I'd like a solution to this too.
I did get Finale to remember the Default Driver ''DirectSound'' in Device Setup - Audio Setup by clicking File - Save Preferences. But it won't stay on Output - Headphones and doesn't auto recognise the headphones when i plug them in. Its annoying as the computer itself auto changes to headphones, but not Finale. I get Error 7 messages when i unplug the headphones.

I've discovered that the audio options won't stick unless you have a microphone turned on. I discovered this accidentally when I had it on for a Zoom session. Since I'm unwilling to always have it on, I've written a FinaleScript that I've mapped to a hot key and that I run when I first start Finale. (The mysterious "Play through MIDI" followed by "Play through VST" was necessary because of yet another Finale problem).

Yes! Does anyone from Finale monitor these discussion forums? This is a minor annoyance, but saving settings is basic functionality that should work!

Whether they do or whether they don't isn't the answer. I still contend it comes down to one of, or both of, two reasons why long standing bugs and some simple annoyances never seem to get fixed. One they don't have the money to, or two, they don't know how. The latter may be do to the fact that fixing one thing can break another even perhaps many others. After all Finale is a super complex program.Does anyone from Finale monitor these discussion forums?
