Hi all -

In working with Finale 27 on Big Sur, I am finding that my usual manual positioning of expressions and lyrics are ignored by Finale and snap back to either a lower or higher position. Am I just missing a document option or preference or is this something that Finale 27 does? I'm used to moving things around when I want to and have not had this issue before.

Thanks! Alicia

Please read up on Snap to Grid.

It appears from the comments I've seen that the presets in F27 are different from what they were in earlier versions.

Thanks! I did deselect all the snap to grid/guides. It still doesn't work, but I can use the arrow keys on my laptop to move things and they seem to be staying. So I can live with that. I just need items to go where I want them to go.

It could, also, have something to do with being an imported XML file, perhaps? I haven't tried one that I started myself.

Possibly. Try it with a new doc, and see.

A response from David Cusick, at Finale HQ:

This issue is with Finale v27.0 on macOS 11 Big Sur only. Selecting the Simple Entry tool, then closing and reopening the file is current work around until we have a permanent fix (which we are currently working on).
You can get more details on the issue at our knowledge base article here:
