I just upgraded to Finale 27 a few days ago. One of the things I checked was to make sure that it would open documents created with previous versions of Finale--and the information was that this would be no problem.

Today I tried to open a document created with Finale 26 to edit--and received this message: "The file cannot be accessed by the system." I have tried that with several other files--same message. The files are all in Dropbox, and I have not had issues with Finale accessing them previously.

Can anyone help?

Can you access Finale files outside of DropBox? Do any other apps have trouble opening files from the same DropBox location?
That would be the obvious test to see where the problem lies.

Can you download the docs to your computer, and open them there?

I have some other Finale files on a thumb drive--there is no problem accessing them. I can also open other files in Dropbox--just not the Finale ones.

Yes, I can download the file from Dropbox to my computer and then it opens. When I save it with Finale 27 and close it, it then reopens with no problem. I don't understand what the current issue is with opening it in Dropbox, though--I've never had that problem before.

I don't know if this is related, but with Box Sync which I think operates much the same way as Dropbox I've once or twice had a somewhat similar (not identical, but then I'm on Mac) message if I've had a Finale 26 file open on two computers at the same time in their desktop Box folders. I'm not sure of the precise cause, but it didn't seem to have any dire effects and was just a passing nuisance.

It seems to have fixed itself...I checked my files in Dropbox this morning and they appear to be opening properly.
