I'm having some trouble saving changes to this file. It says it could not be saved, "file is locked." How do I unlock it?

Check the infos of the file, and make sure it is not locked (via a checkbox) and at the bottom of the window, verify if "writing" is allowed.

I was able to open the file and save it to the desktop.
Would it help if I sent you the file I saved to see if it works any better for you?

Finale always asks me if i want to save a file, even if I just open it, and then try to close it right away. This has been the MO for years. The fact that it doesn't ask if you want to save the file seems odd to me, considering this long-standing behavior.
Oops. I am on Windows, and you're on Mac. I guess the to systems behave differently. The Windows version of Finale is what I was referring to.

FYI, the Mac version behaves the same way (asking to save even if you haven't modified anything).
