Sometimes the lower notes in a particular staff collide with the lyric line below. I tried dragging each of the four arrowheads at left, but none permit editing just that one lyric line. Is there a simple way to move an individual lyric line (in one staff) without moving all the others in the document?

If you drag the 3rd arrow, then only the lyric in that system will move. Other systems will remain as is. Make sure you're in the correct "verse/chorus/section" and correct numeric verse also before dragging the arrow.

A quick way to switch between verses, with the selection tool double click any lyric. It'll automatically put you in the correct verse to edit that lyric.

One Staff or one System? The First Arrow is Global. The Second Arrow is Staff. The Third Arrow is System.

P.S.: I was a little slow in posting, so I guess my answer is redundant.

I don't know why it did not work before, but dragging the third arrowhead now lets me adjust the lyric line below a single stave.

Thank you so much.
