I searched Finale's help and this forum. I have two separate sets of instrument techniques - one for Garritan that comes pre-installed, and a separate one for third-party sample sets. I can select one or the other, but don't see any way of combining both sets into a single set of preferences other than to manually add the individual techniques from one set to the other. Is there any easier way to do this that I'm missing?

From my experience, you need to create a custom set of HP preferences which would contain the Garritan sounds you use as well as other samples like VSL. I wish there was an automatic way of doing this, but I think the easiest route would be to duplicate your Garritan preferences, give it a different name, then manually add your VSL instrument preferences or other sounds you use.

Thanks, that's what I suspected.

If the issue is keyswitches, when all else fails, you can create custom keyswitch expressions for that, unique to the sample set being used.
