I think he means checking (and changing) permissions, down in the bottom section of the window.

I wonder if Finale was installed as the wrong user. I guess I would try reinstalling and pay careful attention to the instructions and prompts.

I installed following all the prompts. I also gave the proper permission.

You might consider trying to install again anyway.
Have you contacted MakeMusic? After 31 posts, it doesn't sound like we'll be able to solve it for you here.
