Hi all,
Apologies for being O/T, but... Has anyone amongst us ever contributed works to ABRSM syllabi over the years?
I can't find much info on the net about the process of how a composer contributes repertoire (i'm thinking original repertoire). Any suggestions, links, etc, would be really useful.
Cheers,
Hector.

Some of my pieces were recommended to ABRSM by prominent musicians, who were asked to suggest repertoire. Unfortunately because they were not published, and could not be ordered 24 hours a day, they could not be used. I pointed out that this would not be a problem as I let musicians play through the music before they buy it anyway. This meant the pieces could be available through my website all the time for download.

I was disappointed but can understand that they would prefer to use specialist publishers. Looking back, maybe an established publisher would have taken up these pieces if they were going to be used for examinations.

Ian, thanks. It's a credit to you that your works were recommended by those musicians. It is helpful to know about the preference for published works... thanks.
Cheers,
HP.
