I'm using rhythmic notation in layer 2 for above-staff rhythm cues (entered as concert G 1st space above treble staff). Fine, but if I transpose the part, I'd like those notes to not move- possible?

Indeed the notes will move, but you can quickly move them back:

1) Switch to Layer 2

2) Document menu > Show Active Layer Only
{Show Active Layer Only} also means {Edit Active Layer Only}.
Now you will only see/edit the Layer 2 notes.

3) Selection Tool. Select All.
To move the notes one scale step up, hit the number 7 key.
To move the notes one scale step down, hit the number 6 key.

You can de-select {Show Active Layer Only} when you are done.

Thanks for the reply. I’m looking for a way to not have to do that manually. I want that layer to be non-transposing.

Now that I think about it the solution may be an additional staff, no lines, set to not transpose…

That could work.
In the Staff Attributes you could select the option {Ignore Key Signatures} which will “lock” the staff in the key of C Major.

To get rid of the barlines for the additional staff, move the staff’s barlines vertically into the “real” staff.
This is done in the dialog box Staff Setup.

That’s actually working pretty wel; now I wish I could get the left barline to look OK… Seems to be no way to stop it from rendering the left Barline on the invisible staff

I quote myself:

“To get rid of the barlines for the additional staff, move the staff’s barlines vertically into the “real” staff.

By moving the invisible staff’s barlines vertically into the “part” staff you get rid of All barlines, including the Left Barlines.

If you have more questions about this, let me know.

The Staff setup window isn't found in the staff tool but in Window > Score manager > Staff: > Other. Very logical.

Cool- thanks, guys. This works great; my invisible staff is above the "real" staff so I moved the barlines down:
