From time to time I am not getting any sound from my keyboard.
This has happened before and it got fixed when I unplugged the
midi input and re-plugged it back in. It has happened again and it took several
tries to get it working by unplugging/plugging. Any explanations why this
happens? Any other solutions? Thanks.

Also, try blowing any dust from the ports, as I have had success with that once in the past.
Cheers,
Hector.

I would bet it is a computer problem and not a Finale one. I have a very old Roland electronic piano, had it for years. I could not get it to work with Finale or the computer. I recently bought a new Roland A49 midi controller and it works perfectly with the computer and Finale. It leads me to think you don't have the correct driver so that is where I would look first.

If the computer sees the keyboard and you have auto set in the midi section of Finale does the keyboard show up? (when its not working?)

• I see that you are a Mac user. Maybe check the Midi Configuration utility to see if the connections are well defined and saved.
• Try another cable.

Open the Midi Configuration (in the Applications -> Utilities), and check the "virtual" connections.

I'm talking about a Mac App, not inside of Finale. As I said, in Applications -> Utilities.

In the screen you displayed you can select Device set up and see if the keyboard is still there. You should have auto detect devices box checked and Finale should tell you that. I would do this when it stops working because obviously it is there when it works."I checked and don't see "virtual connections."
