I'm trying to help another user come up with a SMuFL doc, using the Finale Jazz fonts. I won't bore you with what I've done so far.

He sent me a screenshot of a doc with Repeat indications (signe, to coda, and coda) attached in the score to multimeasure rests. I can't get that to happen, either in my test doc, or any others. The repeats apply fine to normal measures. Am I missing something, or did he move the repeats into position?

These screenshots are from his doc:

If those are ordinary expressions rather than Repeat tool features (I'm out of my element there), they won't show up if they're in the middle of a multimeasure rest. It's a deficiency. For the segno, you could attach it to the beginning of the next measure rather than the end of the last. In fact, you want it there in case there's a system break (not good to appear at the end of a system).

With the likes of "to coda," though, the only thing I've found is to attach it to the the first measure of the rest in the parts where there are multimeasure rests (assigned to that part only). I suppose measure-attached text blocks might work, too.

Thanks, motet. Nice to know it's not me. This time…

I believe you can apply them to the correct measure when in Scroll View. If position adjustments need to be made on such a repeat text item, if they're not attached to the first bar of a MM rest, then those adjustments also need to be made in Scroll view. Having them attached to the correct measure will ensure correct playback.

You're right! Looks like the Repeat tool markings don't have the "buried measure" problem of expressions (like I say, I'm Repeat-tool ignorant.) I wonder if I can use it for stuff like "End of Act I" and a fermata over the barline, which I've suffered implementing with expressions.

Well, maybe not.

Looks like you can't adjust them when they're part of a mm rest. If you break the rest, move them, and put them back, even all in Page view, the position shifts.

I came here as a result of a search for a solution to this problem. I have a multi-measure rest with TWO text repeats on it. One on the first bar (a text cue) and one on the last bar (a D.S.). After trying Zuill's solution I can add one detail to motet's reply: If a text repeat is attached to the first bar of the multi-measure rest you can adjust it in page view. But the position of a text repeat attached to the last bar can only be moved in Scroll view, and with not much accuracy. I had to make three tries before getting it close enough to accept. Time for a feature request...
