I set up a 4/4 doc, 3 measures, each with 4 quarter notes. I set the tempi for each measure (with expressions) at 150, 50, a tempo.

I thought that the a tempo was a working expression, that would switch back to 150. But it stayed at 50. I went back to the a tempo, and on the playback tab, I set the tempo to 150, and all was well. I wasn't aware that was necessary, since the accel. and rit. markings work right out of the chute.

Is this how it's supposed to work? I had HP set as Standard.

In the playback tab, you need to check "match tempo to tempo marking," or words to that effect. HP doesn't look at tempo marks, as far as I know.
