Working with very old version files, updating them and correcting some percussion notation problems, there were so many issues that I decided to create a new empty (1 measure) master file with score manager set up correctly for all parts and then copy the data from the old file, using the edit filter to eliminate all midi data (where I suspect the corruption lies). The problem is that the copy function does not respect time signature changes in the source file and adds rests to make everything in the new file adhere to the time signature of measure 1. Is there a way to bring all the time signature changes along when copying?

The time signatures will be copied if you select complete measure stacks in the source file.

… To make a Stack Selection of only some of the staves in the source document, create a Staff Set of only those staves.
Then, while viewing this Staff Set, you can make a Stack Selection of only these staves.

In that way you can even make a Stack Selection of a single staff.

No I don't think there is. When I am presented with a similar situation I make the new empty score exactly like the old one with all the times sig changes. Then you can copy and paste and it will be correct every time.

This is what was asked. He is right it won't respect time sigs.

Perhaps I'm not understanding, but I just created a woodwind quintet file with the setup wizard, put in a bunch of time signature changes, then created a second file, deleted all but the first measure, and copied the first file into the second, and all time signature changes were present. What am I not understanding?

Because you did it like that. The OP didn't.

Maybe the OP should do what works...

Thanks for a very useful tip. It does work as you say although it seems weird. If I select, say, staff 5 from the original and then paste it into the new, time signature changes do NOT come along, and, in fact, some other weird changes are made in notated rhythms. When I make a staff set of just staff 5 in the original, copy that, paste it into the target--voila, everything is there as desired. Thanks again!

It is in fact a feature. I think the idea is that the measure settings apply to all staves, not just the one you're copying. In the old days, before this feature was added, you could end up with duplicate tempo marks and rehearsal marks, which was a nuisance.

ebiggs, mscherperel asked, "Is there a way?" There is, and Peter provided it. "Make the new empty score exactly like the old one with all the times sig changes" was maybe not the best advice.

Great! That’s the important thing. They can argue over technique but you are golden.
