Cadenza Writing
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
I have forever had trouble writing cadenzas on Finale. For the life of me, I can not get the time signature to turn off. I'm about ready to pay someone to do this cadenza for me. I'm using version 26. If anyone can give me a step-by-step how-to about this, that would be great!!

What I do is to write it out with barlines, perhaps switching time signatures as appropriate, getting the system breaks where appropriate, then locking the systems, then using JW Meter and Rhythm to merge each system into a single measure. You can use the measure attributes to suppress displaying the time signatures. You can also use the measure attributes to put an invisible barline at the end of each system, if you want.
This is a cadenza for two, but you get the idea:

If you do not have Jari Williamson’s plug-in JW Meter and Rhythm:
Plug-ins menu > Measures > Merge Measures
To hide time signatures you can use the Measure Attributes.
Or you can hide time signatures with a custom staff style, applied to all the measures in the entire cadenza.
