Several years ago (I forget which version of Finale I was using at the time) Zuill posted a keyboard shortcut which opened a dialog from which one could select individual notes and turn on/off their playback (amongst other things).

As far as I know this dialog was undocumented - but for the life of me I cannot remember the shortcut to do this, and cannot find the post on the old MakeMusic forum.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about - and if so, what the shortcut was and whether it's still available in v25.5 or v26?

Perhaps the Speedy Entry frame editor. From Speedy Entry, control-click on the measure and the Edit Frame dialog will appear. Next Entry/Prev. Entry will take you through the notes. There's a Playback box you can uncheck. You don't need to worry about the Next Note/Prev. Note at the bottom unless you have chords and want to disable playback of only some notes in the chord.

You can also do it with the JW Change Plug-in: Note Entries > Playback > Mute
That way you can, after first selecting one or several notes and /or measures and staves, mute them all at once. Perhaps somewhat more efficient, depending on what you want to do.

@motet - yes that's it - thank you! Thanks also for the link to the documentation (that's one of the problems with manuals: if you don't know what wording/terminology you're looking for, things can be very difficult to find).

@mmike - thank you - I didn't now that. Looks like that would be quicker if there are a lot of notes to process.
