Hi, Im using finale 2014 (because Im runing a windows 7 machine and cant install newver versions) and I have a bug that frecuently starts to show on all my finale projetcs (soon or later).
Basically, its lyric related. Suddendly, finale crashes when I change a lyric layer (using specify current lyric tool). For example, I can add without problem lyrics to vers numbers 1-3 but If I choose to add verse number 4, finale crashes.
It seems to crash random, because sometimes it crase when using some verse lyric number in a project, but in another project it crashes when using another verse/chorus/section number.
It happens with old projects and crashes using new templates. Sometimes crashes on page 15, sometimes crashes on page 3...
Im attaching one of this projects to see if someone can take a look an find where is the problem (I think its after doing something like copy and paste some bars, or changing something to the project). In this file, finale crashes if I choose to add a new verse lyric (number 4) on the last system of page 2. Using another number wont make a crash on this file (but will on another finale projects)
Really thanks
JC

drumstudio2000,
In your Forum User Profile (displayed to the right) it says that you are using Mac.
Perhaps it is time that you update your Forum User Profile - to avoid getting useless replies,
like e. g. links to the Mac Finale manual.

It's confusing, because you have Verses and Sections, with some used, and some not. However, I will confirm a freeze when shifting between lyric settings, requiring a Force Quit. And this is on F26.
I exported the file as XML, and imported it back in. It seems to work correctly for me. Try this file, and see if it works for you.

Hi, unfortunately, the profile option on this forum does not allow to choose more than one operation system. Since im using both mac and windows, I just picked one, and really cant just change it every time I have an issue with the other OS.Peter Thomsen wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 4:48 pmdrumstudio2000,

Hi, your workarround did the job and now finale is not crashing, I exported the original file as XML and re-imported/saved as new document, but some other issues started to show.miker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 8:55 pmIt's confusing, because you have Verses and Sections, with some used, and some not. I exported the file as XML, and imported it back in. It seems to work correctly for me. Try this file, and see if it works for you.
1) Text blocks on my original file got converted as expressions (yes, strange),
2) music font changed from broadway copyst to another one, and although I change it to another font and then come back to Brodway, it wont take the new font (document options/fonts keeps telling me its Brodway Copyst, but it is not).
3) I lost custom noteheads on my converted file, finale only allows me to insert only hihat, snare and bass drum notes. I could edit my percussion layout and creat those that were missing, but it was a pain, and I just cant do this when convert all my crashing files. I would appreciate any help on how to bring a percussion layout from one of my original files and insert them on my new/fixed-converted files.
Ok, didnt test the new file much more, so I cant tell if there will be new issues with it... but im a little sad because trying to solve one issue started 3 new ones... hope you could help me to solve them, thanks!
Thanks!

In that case I suggest that you instead enter the information in your Forum Signature (displaying at the bottom of each post).drumstudio2000 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 1:04 pm… unfortunately, the profile option on this forum does not allow to choose more than one operation system. Ok, after 2 weeks of keep working on a "no bug" finale document, the bug is showing again and finale is crashing when trying to change from one lyric to another. Is like the bug is not there when its a fresh document, but starts after doing something (never found what could be the common factor). Sometimes is on the page 30 on a document, sometimes is on page 3.
As I said on earlier comments, the "export/import as XML file workarround" just solved the bug, but also started 3 new issues. I would be very greatfull if someone could give me a hand to solve some of them. The new issues after exporting, importing my bugged document as XML are:
1) Text blocks on my original file got converted as expressions (yes, strange),
2) music font changed from broadway copyst to another one, and although I change it to another font and then come back to Brodway, it wont take the new font (document options/fonts keeps telling me its Brodway Copyst, but it is not).
