Bizarre formatting problem

I'm having a bizarre formatting problem when I try to set up (per wizard) a document with Maestro default font in Page View (all subsections of that) but not in Scroll or Studio Views. The staves show 'nromally for a brief half second and then this series of black lines appears.

This has been happening with a number of different pieces. I'm wondering if I may have somehow corrupted a file template and if so how to restore it. It may also have something to do with the number of measures in a piece. If it had less than 31 it formats normally, and I can even add measures and it remains normal.

Make sure "Automatic update layout" is turned on in Preferences/Edit.

Thanks also Motet. It makes no difference whether automatic update is turned on or off. The same thing happens with both settings.

Yes, the actual doc will help. You can remove notes and rests if you like, and just post the empty document that shows this behavior.
