Newly installed Fin27. Can't get Lua scripts to work. The error message says: SciLexer.dll ws not found, must be in the same directory as jwlu64.fxt, but both ARE in this folder: Program Files > MakeMusic > Finale > 27 > Plug-ins > LuaScript. Should they be somewhere else?

It used to be possible (WIN8.1) to scroll (in both page and scroll view) through parts with Ctrl-right/left arrow. Seems neither Fin2014.5 nor 27 can do this now in WIN10. Is this a Windows problem/feature that I am not aware of? (can this be re-established somehow?)

Check the file permissions of SciLexer.dll. Ctrl-arrow was never built into Finale as far as I know. Some people have written macros to do it. In Scroll view, Alt+U{Down}{Enter} and Alt+U{Up}{Enter} will scroll forward and backward one measure. If you have a macro program perhaps you can map those sequences to hotkeys. In Page mode, use the already-built-in Ctrl+PageDown and Ctrl+PageUp

Right again ... I was so used to this that I've forgotten that I assigned TG Tools shortcuts to these functions ...

Since it's a multi-key sequence, how do you do that in TGTools?

It's quite simple - TG Tool Menu Shortcuts > Add > in the key drop-down menu choose what you want (e.g. RIGHT) > then on the right side check Ctrl (or whatever modifier key you want) > Select menu command from the menu (Document) > on the next menu choose Edit Part > on the third menu command choose Next Part. There you go! You could have as many of 4 consecutive commands if so required.

I thought you were talking about Moving left and right a measure in Scroll View. Ctrl+Alt+ period and comma are built in for moving to next/previous part. Ctrl+Alt+/ will toggle between score and part. I think these shortcuts are displayed on the menu.

I always thought that these shortcuts didn't work (never saw the miniscule . or , - I assumed it meant Ctrl+ Alt plus the +key (!) That's why I created the TG Tools shortcuts .... duh!

Take a look at the "Keyboard shortcuts" section of the manual. There are some hidden treasures there.

Coming back to the remaining problem of Lua Scripts not working ...

After contacting Finale Tech Support I have followed their (usual ...) instructions - resetting preferences as well as a subsequent clean re-install, all of which did nothing whatsoever to remedy this problem:

When selecting Lua Scripts or Lua Files I get this error message: SciLexer.dll ws not found, must be in the same directory as jwlua64.fxt

But both ARE in this (same) folder: Program Files > MakeMusic > Finale > 27 > Plug-ins > LuaScript, as well as in the Lua files folder.

In Preferences / Folders the Plug-ins are pointed to the correct folder.
I have checked permissions - everything is allowed.

I have done nothing unusual, it's a new compter, new Windows version, new Finale version - Lua should work. It works perfectly on my other computer (Win 8.1 / Finale 2014.5).

Any ideas?

One thing to check : if you have 2014.5, it is still 32 bit, and jw lua 64 may not be the correct version for you.
Just a shot in the dark...

yes, in WIn 2014.5 it's 32-bit (and it's on the other computer, so there can't even be any interference), and in Fin 27 I have the correct 64-bit version (even downloaded it again from JW because it was somewhat newer than the version included in the Fin 27 installation) - but still no go

The "Scilexer not found" is a known issue (see https://www.facebook.com/groups/7422771 ... 364448876/ ) and AFAIK there has not been a solution. A few users have had it and in most (or even all?) cases it worked again at some time.

BTW, one week ago Robert Patterson has released a new Lua tool for Finale which is ca. 99% compatible with JW Lua.
If you need to get your scripts working as soon as possible, you could try this (for Fin 25, 26, 27 only!):
