I would like to set my system margins to have my score/parts more consistent w/spacing, etc. Please explain: do I manually set the systems/etc. to how I want everything, and then SAVE that setting? Or do it strictly with the settings in the "system margins" dialogue box? If so, I assume I would just adjust from there until it's how I want it.....right? So I say, oh, I'll move the "top" down to .4, bottom down, etc.? It confused me because I would set it, then it needs adjusting, but going back into the dialogue box you're starting over. Sorry if this is basic....

I assume you're talking about the top and bottom margins, not left and right. Most people drag the margins with the mouse instead of using the dialog.

Yes, exactly, top and bottom, but I guess it would apply to anything. I'm trying to understand whether I set things manually and save that setting, or just use the dialog box and keep adjusting with the numbers until it's right. Sorry if it's confusing.

Try this :
Page Layout Tool, position the second system manually and set its margins manually (using the handles) the way you would like to have them for the following systems.
Select the second system, and in the menu, Systems -> Edit margins. In the window, apply from system 2 to empty.
