Argh! An old 2011b project now won't open, in either 2011b or 2014.5. I get this:
Untitled.jpg
Untitled.jpg (9.67 KiB) Viewed 1409 times
I don't really care which program I work on it, but I don't have the time or patience to rename all the *.mus files *.musx one by one.

Thanks!

The newer programs will open .mus files from the File menu.

You don't want to rename .mus to .musx. The reason for the two different file extensions is that the file format is different--way different. But that's not the reason for the error message. It sounds to me like your file is corrupt, but if you want to upload it here I'll take a look.

Ooof, if this entire project is corrupt, I'm going to harm myself.

Thanks, Motet.

The file begins with

Did you perhaps encrypt it and forget?

Nope, I'd have no idea how to do that. Any suggestions on how to remove?

No, never heard of it. Looks like somehow, someone encrypted it. Did you have it on a work computer? If it really is encrypted, you're likely out of luck without the password.

Yup, the last full printing would have been on my computer at work. UGH.

Do you have a copy from your home computer from before you took it to work? I realize this might have been years ago. Maybe contact the IT guy and see if they can decrypt?

Nope on the earlier versions BUT... I seem to be able to open the *bak files! Which is better than nothing.
