In Finale 26, I tried to change the time signature from 4/4 to 2/4 and the result was that the voices were shifted in time with respect to each other. Without a backup, it would have been a giant task to correct it. Many voices were coming in at the wrong time. With a smaller score i tried to change the time signature from 2/4 to 4/4 and it worked.

Does this fault appear in Finale 27?

Thank you for your help.

My first guess would be that it is not a matter of bigger score versus smaller score, but rather a matter of empty measures.

You tell that you changed the first score (= the bigger score) from 4/4 to 2/4 - right?
My guess is that
a) the score contains empty measures (displaying Default Whole Rests),
b) before changing the time signature you did not run the plug-in Change to Real Whole Rests,
- right?

* What happens if you - before changing the time signature from 4/4 to 2/4 - first run the plug-in Change to Real Whole Rests, and then change the time signature from 4/4 to 2/4?

You tell that you changed the second score (= the smaller score) from 2/4 to 4/4.
In this case the time signature change goes in “the opposite direction”, and I would not expect any voices being shifted in time with respect to each other.
Finale simply combines the measures two by two.

Peter,

Thank you for this message.

"before changing the time signature you did not run the plug-in Change to Real Whole Rests,

I have been completely unaware of this plug in: Change to Real Whole Rests.

Where do I get it?

Thank you for your help.
