Is it possible to force a multi measure rest when the bars in question are not empty? Specifically I'm looking to have a multi measure rest for a part without deleting the chords in the "empty" bars.

Thanks & Cheers

The measure have indeed to be empty. I don't see what you want to achieve. A multimeasure rest with 7 or 9 chords on top ?

Someone else recently wanted to see a chord at the start of a multimeasure rest, which seems reasonable, but it apparently breaks after the measure, which is unfortunate. It seems like it should behave like a tempo marking.

You could perhaps fake it with a shape expression, hiding all the symbols and jamming the measures together, hiding barlines, etc., but it would probably be tedious. I do this for tacet movements in parts.

You could leave all measures empty, creating the multi-rests, then use the text tool to add chord symbols.

I don't want to display the chords over the multi measure but I don't want to delete them either because the instrument in question may have something to play in a subsequent version of the same work. This is why I'd like to find an easy way to suppress the chords and allow the multi measure rest.
