In m 59 of the piano part in the attached file, the 15ma symbol is fine onscreen, but when I print it, it prints as a box.
It is also fine when I print it out as a PDF, but not if I print directly from Finale.
Any suggestions for how to fix this?
Thanks,
Mark

You're right. Maestro works fine for that symbol, but Petrucci works fine for the 8va symbol, so it's not a universal problem with that font. It's too bad I can't get the Petrucci 15ma to print, as it looks much better.

If I understand you correctly, you created the PDF file by “printing” to a PDF file (via the Print dialog).mark carlson wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 11:20 pm… I just tried it. Alas, it prints as a box when I print the PDF, too. …
As a test I tried PDF “the other way”:
Graphics Tool.
Graphics menu > Export Pages > PDF
The resulting PDF both displayed and printed correctly for me.
I suggest that you try it.
Could not hurt.

Thank you. Alas, even that method results in a box when I print it, though it looks fine onscreen. I guess it must be something that my printer doesn't like about that particular symbol, but not being a tech person, I have no understanding of why that would be the case.Peter Thomsen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:27 ammark carlson wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 11:20 pm… It is also fine when I print it out as a PDF, but not if I print directly from Finale …If I understand you correctly, you created the PDF file by “printing” to a PDF file (via the Print dialog).mark carlson wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 11:20 pm… I just tried it. I am HOPING and thinking that if I email the PDF I have created to the publisher, when they print it out, it will be fine. Otherwise, I'm stuck with the ugly Maestro symbol for 15ma.
In case anyone wants to try it out for me, I'll attach my PDF of that page here so that you can print out exactly what I am printing from.
Oh, wait! Why can't I attach a PDF here?

Actually you can attach a PDF here.
Context-click on the PDF file.
In the context menu, choose to compress the file.
You will get a .zip file which you can attach here.
