I used Jazz Template to create a file and tried to changed the font.
I was able to do so. The font of "almost every text" did changed.
One word (staff name of Piano & its abbreviation) does never change. No matter what I tried.
Can anyone help me? Thank you for this!

I tried:
1. plug-in - > miscellaneous -> change font
2. document -> document option -> fonts - > staff name
3. text - > font
4. checked score manager (don't have option to change font though)

2. document -> document option -> fonts - > staff name*

Note the * which is Finale’s way of telling, that all new staff names will get the new font.
Already existing staff names are not affected.
This is by design, and what users have requested.

Have you tried the plug-in Global Staff Attributes?

Plug-ins menu > Scoring and Arranging > Global Staff Attributes…

I can change the font for the Piano staff name in a document created from a Jazz Template in Score Manager:

In Score Manager click on Piano and then on "Full Name..."
Select the text "PIANO"
Either call up the Character Settings dialog box (option-command-t on the Mac) or go to the Text menu item and select the new font from the Font sub-menu.

Does this not work for you?

I believe the name "Piano" is actually a Group name, not a Staff name since it is applied to the two grand staff staves. I don't have Finale on this computer, but I believe you can right-click on the word Piano and set the full and abbreviated group names including changing the font.

Thank you so much for all the reply. This problem is resolved.
" Plug-in -> global staff attributes " & " character settings dialog in score manager "
These 2 methods did work.

When I did these, I figured "piano" is a group name, not staff name.
However, right-click on the word "piano" doesn't fix it for me.

I find another font problem.
The title of the piece and page number (except the 1st page) on each page doesn't change font.
I have to manually change it by highlighting the those texts and choose " Text - > font " to change it.

This is so inefficient.
Anyone know why this happens ?
or know a more efficient way to change everything at once?

Thank you so much for this !!

From your description it sounds like you on each page have a separate text block with Title and Page Number.
Instead, use only one text block displaying on all pages.

To do so, use
Text menu > Inserts > Title
and
Text menu > Inserts > Page Number

To make the text block display on all pages from page 2 and onwards, select the handle on the text block (you must be in the Text Tool to get a handle).
Then, go to
Text menu > Frame Attributes
And set the Page Range to 2 Through 0.

Thank you so much for this!

Just wish finale is more efficient and everything's fixed with 1 setup right from the beginning....

I agree with you. Finale is an amazing program that has outlasted numerous alternatives over many years. However, like MS Office, there often are multiple ways to accomplish something and it’s not always clear that these options even exist. It also is hobbled by decades-old code and an interface that is inefficient even if it is extremely powerful. At the same time, it’s flexible with regard to workflow. That other program has newer code and a nicer interface perhaps, but is also less flexible in that it sounds like it constrains users into working the way the software thinks people should. And while there are some features I’d love to see in Finale for sure, there remain things that Finale does so much more efficiently and easier. Cutout scores are pretty trivial with Finale, even if this is not a highly needed feature.

It’s met my needs since the early 90’s but yeah, it’s often obtuse. I’m hoping some of that gets improved but I’m skeptical.
