Greetings from Toronto!
I'm trying to add an introductory measure as outlined here: http://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Fina ... ht=incipit
Many steps but easy enough to follow. Problem is that they don't seem to work.
It would seem that step 9 is the culprit. A new staff system is not begun as expected and thus margin changes in the following steps don't affect the intended system.
Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

Intriguing! Could you perhaps point me towards some instructions for what you have in mind?

If you can't get it to work, Plug-ins/Measures/Create Coda System does indeed seem good. Select measures 2 through the end and then run it. Uncheck all the coda symbol stuff. Afterwards, do the initial steps you were following to change the measure 1 attributes. Adjust the widths in the Page Layout tool.

If what you are trying to do is create incipit types of bars, a completely different way is with Ambitus, a special font designed for creating these sorts of things. You just create a Text object and type in the characters you need.

Thanks for your input, everyone!
After reaching out to Jason Loffredo, creator of (the dispensable) Conquering Finale, he directed me to this video which comprehensively covers the subject of ambitus and incipits: https://youtu.be/iRBI-SrEPdQ
Here's the result I was aiming for and have finally achieved:

Have you actually tried this font? The description states that: "Ambitus works in any word processor or other software that supports ligatures and kerning." -- I have always been dubious of Finale's abilities in this regard. Is my suspicion misplaced? Does this actually work as intended in Finale? If so... WOW!

I would rather say that they aren't perfect matches for Finale’s defaults.
1) The staff-line thickness is a document setting.
You can change the staff-line thickness; you are not forced to use Finale’s default staff-line thickness.
2) The font used for clefs can be changed.
You can change the clef font; you are not forced to use Finale’s default clef font.

Agreed, I should have clarified that.Peter Thomsen wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 5:15 pmI would rather say that they aren't perfect matches for Finale’s defaults.

So... has anyone worked with the Ambitus font enough to be able to suggest a list of things to change and their associated values in order to get A to match B per the above?
